A good samaritan helps saves his neighbour’s life. Graham Mathieson worked with Police in Ruatoria to rescue an 89-year old from floodwaters.
Another Matheson is showcasing environmental rehabilitation efforts in the south. Paul Matheson is the manager of Takitimu coal mine, near Nightcaps in Southland. A recent open day showed people how 50 ha of mined land has been converted to farmland and wetlands.
