We want to make our activities and information open to all so no longer have a formal membership structure. You don’t have to subscribe or pay a membership fee to be involved.

Our quarterly newsletter goes to more than 300 readers in New Zealand and overseas. It contains stories about Matheson family history, tips to help with your research and news about Clan Matheson in New Zealand and around the world. You can sign up to receive it by using the form on the newsletter page. You can unsubscribe at any time.

How you can contribute
If you like what we’re doing to support Matheson heritage and connections, you can help sustain our work. All our work is done by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers, and we’d love to have your assistance.
Events
Clan Matheson New Zealand takes part in Scottish-themed events like Highland games and pipe band championships around the country. We have a strong track record of attending Highland games at Hororata, Turakina, Paeroa and Waipu. More recently we have organised the ‘clan avenue’ at the national pipe band championships, held each year at a different location. We also take part in some Scottish-themed events in Auckland. We are keen to have more people to help at these events.
Don’t see your home town listed? We’d love people to volunteer to fly the Clan Matheson banner at events in other locations. We can help with advice and collateral material.

Family history
If you have skills and experience in family history research, you might be able to provide advice to individuals researching their Matheson heritage — a kind of genealogical agony aunt.
We used to have a ‘clan genealogist’ who kept a register of individuals’ family trees and provided advice. Now that it’s easy to store and share family trees online there isn’t the need for us to maintain a register, but someone providing advice would be a real help to many in Clan Matheson New Zealand.

You can promote Clan Matheson New Zealand with our new flyer. Either download the file and print them yourself or request some from the secretary: let us know how you’re going to use them and how many you can use.
Support our work
We run on the smell of the proverbial oily rag. All our work is done by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers. A small flow of donations helps us meet our cash outgoings, which are mainly around operating the website.

Long-term thinking
