Land that has been in a Matheson family for more than 150 years is now on the market.  Originally owned by Angus Matheson and Jessie Matheson, the three lots near Leigh (which is near Warkworth) are being sold by their descendants.

Are you a piper or drummer wanting to to improve your skills? Do you know someone who is? The Clan Matheson Society New Zealand branch is giving a grant of $500 to help someone attend this year’s summer school run by the Royal New Zealand Pipe Bands Association.

Preference will be given to someone with Matheson connections, though that’s not essential, and you have to be able to play ‘Green Hills of Tyrol’ (or similar). And you’ll have to be in quick as the deadline for enrolment is 1 November.

The summer school will be held over five days in January, with international and local tutors taking part. Check out the website for details, and please spread the word.

If you join the New Zealand branch of the Clan Matheson Society you can share your Highland heritage and interest in the clan with others, and support the work of the society.  We have a new membership form to make it easier to join, which you can find here.

This year’s Auckland Highland Games and Gathering will be held on Saturday 21 November at the Three Kings Reserve (corner of Mt Eden and Mt Albert Roads).  There’s a lot of activities for all the family, and entry is free.  See our events page for details.

This summer will once again see Highland games held in towns and rural areas across New Zealand.  You can find out more on our events page.

Clan Matheson members are planning to get together over lunch in Auckland on Sunday 8 November.  Check out our events page for more information.
